gilda su, born in singapore, spent the majority of her childhood reading story books by enid blyton, building huge lego castles, dressing barbies, and smacking her brother whenever he beheaded them. she doodled on everything and thought she was pretty crafty when she started making and altering her own clothes and accessories.

she went on to attend bunka fashion college, the alma mater of some of her favorite designers, located in tokyo, japan. whilst immersing herself in the country’s rich culture of the new and old amongst the best of her generation, she gained a strong foundation in pattern-making and sewing, growing to love manipulating patterns as a way to express her love and respect of the avant-garde. the four years that she spent in Japan only further strengthened her very unique and personal point of view.

after graduating with an associates’ degree specializing in dress-making, she continued her studies at parsons the new school of design in new york city. there, she interned at the patricia field boutique; starting off helping the buyers with merchandising and later assisting not only with photo-shoots, but also setting up and organizing fashion shows, and making samples and patterns for the well-received patricia field x keith haring collection.

gilda is a full-time daydreamer and joy-seeker. Her designs reflect her love for color and pattern-manipulation, and a playfulness that comes with self-confidence and an original personal style. she eagerly anticipates her future working between the new york, european, japanese and singaporean fashion worlds.
